5 Calgary: Minutes from Calgary Tourism Attractions

The Heart of the New West

Calgary is Alberta’s largest city, and is home to over one million hardworking Albertans. Established in 1894, Calgary has grown to become one of Canada’s main cities. Calgary’s various epithets include The Stampede City, and Cowtown. Calgary’s motto is Onward.

Calgary: World’s Cleanest City

In 2007 Forbes Magazine published that Calgary is the World’s Cleanest City based on a Mercer Quality of Life poll. Calgary is situated in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. A few hours drive from the city will take you to some of Canada’s most vivid natural destinations, including Banff National Park. Urban Calgary is close to nature. Two rivers run through the city: The Elbow River, and the Bow River.

Downtown Calgary is home to some of the West’s finest cultural attractions, and the 5 Calgary puts it all within your reach. On nearby 8th Avenue South you can window-shop along Stephen Avenue, brimming with cozy restaurants, boutiques, and brand-store shopping, including the Calgary Eaton Centre – home to 180 shops and services.
